One option to give the children a consistent home after divorce

One of the hardest things for children after their parents get divorced is that they typically have to move back and forth between two houses. Say you and your ex share custody, each taking the children every other week. That's a lot of movement for the children, especially if they're also moving out of the only family home they have ever known and into two new homes at once.

For children, low-conflict divorce is the hardest

A lot of time and research has gone into looking at how divorce really impacts children. Researchers warn against assuming it is always a negative event, for instance, noting that children who are trapped in high-conflict homes may actually see it as a positive. They did not have the life they wanted or needed when the parents were together and not getting along, so things improved after the divorce -- even though that meant splitting time with Mom and Dad.
